Fluid - Free Site Specific Browser for Mac OS X... →
I like the idea of Fluid - running web apps in their own window, isolated from web browsing - but last I checked Gmail and Backpack weren’t fully playing nice with Safari. Prism, from Mozilla, is intriguing as well, but isn’t available for the Mac yet.

WalMart Introduces Search Engine Marketing  →
Do we really need WalMartification of Search Engine Marketing? Note that this is *not* Search Optimization, which relies on smart development and content strategy rather than cheap commodity ad placement.

Web-Based Office Tools in '08?
The Daily Poll: R.I.P Web-Based Office Tools? on Mashable got me thinking about the state of daily use web apps. A few months ago I would’ve been really optimistic about their growth and adoption next year, but now I’m not so sure. Until recently I was using web-based Gmail exclusively. If I received an Excel or Word attachment while browsing on my mac, I’d go ahead and open it...

Freshbooks: Easy invoicing and payment
I think I came across Freshbooks before I came across the discount at Freelancersunion.org, but the discount got me using it for all my client billing. I’ve since begun using it for time tracking as well. Freshbooks also offers Basecamp integration so I can import details from client projects. Email delivery of invoices (as well as paper delivery for those who insist), payment tracking,...

It's SPAM
I just received an unsolicited mass email (via Constant Contact) from someone a few doors down from my new office at an email address I did not sign up for building updates with. I did submit my building directory listing using that email, and it can be found by clicking through from the directory to the Slim Kiwi homepage. I didn’t opt in for email with that address, nor did I provide so...

Can anyone tell me...
Why every application — including web-based email apps — has defaulted to preserving styles in pasted text? I just copied a number out of my web-based invoicing application into a spreadsheet in Numbers and it was 12pt Verdana rather than the default 10pt Arial. Really? Does that make sense? Matching styles of a copied number in a spreadsheet?

Looking for a Freelance Flash Developer
We’re looking for a savvy, full-time freelance Flash developer who can complement our project team. Pay is good and the project is interesting. Our team (www.slimkiwi.com + www.tinymachine.net) developed a 0.1 prototype for 12/1. We’re soon entering the beta -> 1.0 phase with a target date of March. The project (www.identiasigns.com) is a custom web application for the architectural...

24 ways: CSS for Accessibility →
All great tips. I’ve begun using text-transform for uppercase headings or nav items, entering the HTML content in normal case. Good points on the focus ring and the value of using borders to underline links rather than the default underline.

Memo to Adobe Support
To: The otherwise helpful support rep at Adobe I spoke to earlier today Thank you for recommending I uninstall my Photoshop CS Trial before installing the discs that arrived today. A friend confirmed that was a wise, if not necessary, approach. That said, he disagreed with your recommendation that, to remove Photoshop from my mac I drag the app to my “recycling bin.” The correct...

Looking for freelancers
I’m still looking for a solid freelance web developer (CSS/XHTML, slicing, some JavaScript and CMS integration) to hook up and share some work with. This is not a full-time position; you should be self-sustaining. If you’d like some work delegated to you, and to potentially reciprocate, you should be a full-time freelancer who can commit to deadlines.

Bye-bye Network Solutions
I just transferred another domain out of NS and into MediaTemple. Since they held a lapsed domain hostage, charging more than the registration fee to recover it, I’ve been on a mission to take away my biz.
